Titanium industry: significant achievements during the 12th Five-Year Plan period

"Twelfth Five-Year" titanium output growth

In the first 10 years since the new century, driven by the rapid development of China's national economy, China's titanium industry has also doubled its growth. The output of sponge titanium and titanium processed materials increased from 1905 tons and 2233 tons in 2000 to 57770 tons and 38323 tons in 2010, both ranking first in the world.

During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the development of China's titanium industry is facing the challenges of slowing down the world's macroeconomic development and weak demand for titanium products. The entire industry is committed to scientific and technological progress, accelerating structural adjustments, and promoting industrial transformation and upgrading. It has laid a solid foundation for the transformation from big to strong.

During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the production capacity of China's titanium industry continued to grow inertia driven by the rapid development in the first 10 years of the new century. At the end of 2013, China's sponge titanium production capacity was 150 kt/a, and its titanium ingot production capacity was 109 kt/a. By the end of 2015, China's sponge titanium production capacity was 88,000 tons/a, and titanium ingot production capacity was 135,000 tons/a.

Technical equipment progress

From "Eleventh Five-Year" to "Twelfth Five-Year", China's titanium industry has made significant progress in technological equipment. In the past ten years, China has been equipped with 10 sponge titanium blending and distributing systems; 33 large vacuum consumable electric arc furnaces of more than 8 tons; 8 large electron beam cold bed furnaces, 1 large plasma cold bed furnace; 4500 tons Three fast forging machines, two 6000-ton fast forging machines, one 10,000-ton free forging unit, Shaanxi and Sichuan are also equipped with 45,000-ton forging units and 80,000-ton forging units; three 20-roll titanium strip cold rolling units, steel mills Reformed 4 cold-rolled titanium strip production lines and 1 6-roll titanium strip cold-rolled production line.

The main problems facing the industry development

After 60 years of development, China's titanium industry has made great progress in production capacity, output and technical equipment. Baotai Group, Zunyi Titanium Group, Northwest Nonferrous Metal Research Institute and Luoyang Ship Material Research Institute have also appeared in the scale of the enterprise. Such an enterprise group with high industrial integration, long industrial chain and large scale of production has greatly improved the quality of titanium products. But China's titanium industry still has great shortcomings.

Overcapacity of low-end titanium products

After the rapid development in the new century, China’s sponge titanium production capacity has reached 150,000 tons, and titanium ingot production capacity has reached 109,000 tons. In 2013, the actual output was 81,171 tons and 62,216 tons, respectively. The operating rate was insufficient, and most enterprises In the production positioning of low-end products, the products are convergent, the competition is fierce, and the efficiency is low. On the other hand, in the production of high-end products such as aerospace products and medical products, we cannot yet meet the domestic development needs. High-end titanium products such as aviation titanium alloy materials and medical titanium alloy materials still need to be imported. Therefore, China's titanium industry is in a structural surplus.

Independent innovation ability is not strong

For a long time, we have developed and identified many new titanium alloys, but there are not many original originalities. The vast majority of them track and imitate similar foreign products, and the basic and systematic research on the new titanium alloy is not enough, which hinders the new titanium. Application of alloys.

Titanium alloy composition and consistency, batch stability key technologies to be broken

At present, the technical equipment of China's titanium industry has been at the forefront of the world, and a large number of high-quality titanium alloy materials have also been produced to meet the needs of national economic development. However, the reliability and batch stability of high-end titanium alloy materials such as large aircraft and aero engines are poor, resulting in creep deformation of key components such as engine blades and fan disks, and the performance of the engine is reduced, which cannot meet the requirements of large aircraft and medical human implants. demand.
